Singer-songwriter Donna Creighton was born mid-winter in the Ottawa Valley. Her DNA is 100% storyteller and song-maker. Donna is a Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, a Great American Songwriting Competition finalist and a multiple London Music Award and Jack Richardson Music Award winner.
After a decade signed to Borealis Records with indie trio Sirens, Donna Creighton launched her solo career. She has performed alongside Bruce Cockburn, Valdy, Bruce Guthro, Parachute Club, Fred J. Eaglesmith, Don Ross, Philosopher Kings, Lisa Loeb, and Trent Severn. Theatre performances include singing and acting roles with Orchestra London, AlvegoRoot Theatre, Pendas Productions and Donna Creighton Productions.
In 2014, Donna premiered Northern Daughter, a one-woman play with music, which she spent the better part of a decade developing with mentors like Governor General’s Award winning playwright, Vern Thiessen, who calls Donna “talented, smart, and funny as hell.” Donna is taking Northern Daughter on the road in 2015:
Donna is a northern gal! She shows the neigbourhood kids how to garden in her beloved Old East Village community, designs tree houses, quilts, bakes bread, taps her sugar maples, and writes plays, stories and songs when she isn't playing festivals, concerts, and gigs around town.
